It gives me the feeling that it is describing someone’s mind in life.

In the poem it describes a mental state. The poem expresses depression describing the feeling as, “The world has me drowning”. As the poem progresses the sentences gradually become short as if to show the person running out of breath and becoming tired. The poem finishes with “Luck run out”.
